Kenny Rogers Concert circ. 1983

Yesterday my daughter recalled her first concert, it was Kenny Rogers. Her memories aren't the same as mine but that is okay, I remember roses being handed to Kenny by my sister and her daughter, nothing about panties, unless they belonged to someone else, who knows.

The concert took place at the San Louis Obispo County Fair Grounds in August of 1983, it was in the days before Kenny fell to the vanity craze that struck him in recent years, (he should have left well enough alone.) Yes, he wore a white suit, however, I believe it was silk or linen. It was his trade mark at the time.

This is CamiKaos and her cousin Julie in mime make-up, and, of course the, requisite, signed Kenny Rogers poster.

Here we have the family Kaos, DW, NanaKaos, CamiKaos, and of course, DK the Blogfather. Yes, we did have our "quasi-redneck days, but remember that we had just moved back from Texas the year before and hadn't even given up our southern drawls yet,Ya'll.

One thing CamiKaos forgot to mention, she has probably forgotten, was her introduction to the real love of her life. COTTON CANDY! Her GrandmaD bought her, her first cone of Cotton Candy, she had to share, but Grandma didn't eat much, the only thing they ever had in common was a little girls love of Cotton Candy, a love that MissK shares.

Kenny isn't so much of a favorite now, every once in a while he comes out with something I like, the last time was " The Greatest", I think that is the name, a song about a little boy playing baseball with himself.

That was my waltz down memory lane for today. I hope you weren't too bored.

Later!

The New Arrival and the Potty Mouth

I'm here today for two reasons. One, to celebrate the new arrival to our home, and to give you another hint about my stellar personality(cough-cough).

About a month we went shopping and found the big screen TV of our dreams.

Let me 'splain, DK and I have been wanting a big screen TV for awhile now,we have looked in every store around here, there really aren't that many. We have, however been unable to come to an agreement for two reasons, the TV needed to be big enough for DK's tastes and inexpensive enough (everything is relative) to meet my Scot's Irish, Cherokee bent for thriftiness.

People, miracles do happen, quit by accident we came across a 50 inch Panasonic that met my stinginess and DK's size requirements. Because of things that have been happening, we couldn't have it delivered when we bought it.

They delivered it today, around 1:00 pm. , a full hour before their earliest delivery estimate, hooray!

It was installed without any injury and very little potty mouth,(DK did the install, they want $300.00 just to open the box and put it on the table, not in my house) the HD cable is effective Thursday, we are set for the winter, our movie shelves are full, and they have started delivering the firewood. We are on!!!!!!!!

As for the potty mouth, well..... Dk and I decided to play a little game of Wii golf.

There is a reason that I don't play competitive games on Wii.

By the time I had sent my Wii golf ball in ocean for the third time the F-bomb had been dropped too many time to count.

What is it about that little white ball (even on TV) that drives all kinds of mean spirited language out of our mouths. Note to self; never play Wii golf in Miss K's presence again.

Meanwhile, anyone up for My Sims?

The World Is Full of Surprises!

I know that I have been absent more then I have been here lately, I know I have apologized, so I'm not going to do that today.

My world has been a little cock-eyed lately, but I'm learning to live with it, someday, when I can live with it a little better I'll share, but not today.

Today I am here to share with you a little gift that I received this morning. I know it's a little early, but you have to take what is given to you so here it is.

I awoke to this this morning:

Isn't it beautiful, I know it's early for the white stuff, but this particular white stuff brought with it a ray of hope. Do you want to see it?

There it is, just a small thing, but just a reminder that there is hope. No, this little flower probably won't survive this snow, but, it is beautiful none the less, but there it is now! So I have decided to get off my gloom trip and look around for some joy, I know it is there, you just have to know where to look. So look around, there might be a blessing under all of that snow.

There's no place like home!

I got home from Reno Monday afternoon. It was a quick trip on short notice, but well worth any inconvenience it might have caused.

I got to spend time with my sisters. Linda and I had a two night slumber party. OK, there was no late night pizza, no movies until all hours, and we were asleep by midnight both nights, but we did talk, a lot. Most of the talking was about things we had already discussed, and there were many memories recalled.

Was this a happy trip? No, was it heart warming and heart wrenching at the same time, yes. I would change only one thing about this trip, but I have no say, it is in Gods hands.

I got to know my brother-in-law a little better, and I got to spend sometime with my niece and nephew. I've never been able to have much time with them, they are wonderful kids, they love their Mom unconditionally.

Our time with Shelly was, of necessity, short , but we wouldn't have traded that time for anything. Always with a prayer in our hearts. The people helping her have been very special, and I feel that God must be there guiding them, doing everything possible to help her heal.

Now, I need to get back to my real world. DK is on his way to S.F. to watch his heroes chase that little white demon ball around a beautiful cowless, pattiless, cow pasture.

Probably some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere, and what are they doing? Watching golfs bad boys chase that ball. DK, H, have a good time. But remember that you both have wives waiting here at home who let you take this trip. I think we deserve some special souvenir, and I don't mean a golf ball, brand new or struck one of your golf gods, I mean something nice! Have a good time guys, we miss you.

My friends, I'll be back another day. Later!

What are Nana and Papa to do?

We went to the only large bookstore in Counciltuckey this morning, DK is going on a road trip to the big bon-fire state in the west, for the Presidents Cup next month, and he needs a "book like" travel companion. Since we don't have a much desired Kindle, we have to make do with the real deal books.

We decided that we could get a better price at Wally World, so we just wandered around for a bit, DK to his political/detecetive type books, and ,me, my destination was the children's sections.

The front window display showed a wonderful array of children s Halloween themed books.

Oh my, there were at least 30 new books out for this wonderful season. I started looking, and was just lost in the wonder of skeleton's with hiccups, Mummy's coming unwrapped, Bone soup, and many wonderful witch stories.

I wanted to cry, not that tears are usual for me right now, but these were a different kind of tears.

My darling MissK has just about grown out of these one to two lines per page, with the colorful imaginative pages, I love this type of book.

Graduating to chapter books is a big deal these days, it shows that a child really is learning to read.

Hmmmmmm, why wouldn't MissK and CamiKaos enjoy reading this type of book together, even DocNormal loves to listen in at bedtime. CamiKaos, as MissK tells me, does all of the voices and everything!

Okay, all that is left for Nana and Papa to do now is decide "witch" book the Kaos Family is most likely to enjoy. It seems that all things "Halloween" are goodness.
